The Weekend Sabbatical
Participants arrive in Guatemala City Thursday morning and will take a short shuttle ride to Antigua. From there, we officially kick-off The Weekend Sabbatical at Hotel Santa Domingo. The theme of Day 1 is Connectedness and Relatedness and participants will spend 2-3 hours at Hotel Santa Domingo getting to know the other participants of the group through a number of team building activities.
Impact is the theme of Day 2 and participants will spend the day working with the local towns around Antigua that were devastated by Volcan de Fuego. The group will start in Antigua before heading to the surrounding communities to help with infrastructure rebuild and strategy planning. The day ends back at the Airbnb with a deliciously cooked team dinner and retrospective session.
Day 3 is titled Trust and Teamwork and focuses on getting participants outside of their comfort zones like never before. The day is simple - leave the Airbnb at 9 AM with only a bottle of water, sunscreen, and no other possessions (money included). Participants will break from the group and spend the day by themselves as they explore Antigua. Participants will have 3 goals for the day - to complete something mindful, physical, and spiritual. At 5 PM, participants will head back to the Airbnb for a sunset and deep reflection and retrospective session.
On Day 4 the group will head outside of Antigua to Acatanego Volcano. A two hour hike will bring the group to the beautiful viewing points, where there will be incredible photo opportunities. Upon arrival, participants will have plenty of time to reflect on the week to date, what has been discovered, and what comes after The Weekend Sabbatical through a series of mindfulness activities. Nature is one of the best ways to reflect on your life and what better way to drive further reflection than at this beautiful earth marvel.
The final day of The Weekend Sabbatical is called Vision Day. Day 5 is an early start and participants will spend the morning reflecting and sharing what they have discovered over the week. A tangible plan of action is made to continue to drive results around these areas of clarity with the group facilitator. After breakfast and the morning activities, the group will take one final view of Antigua before heading back to Guatemala City for departure flights. Upon leaving Guatemala, participants will feel mentally recharged and will have gained clarity into important aspects of their careers and how to grow in those future areas of their careers.
