Kayla Kleinman is a pint-sized fitness junkie, wellness writer and yoga teacher living in NYC. After graduating NYU/Tisch with a BFA in theater, Kayla ditched the theater world to bring her love of performing to group fitness and teaching yoga.


She is the creator of wellness blog Kayla in the City which has been featured in Teen Vogue, and is also the creator of WELL-rounded, a podcast focusing on all aspects of what it means to live a healthy and fulfilling life.

Accommodations | Casa de Sunset

Casa de Sunset is located in the heart of Dominical and will provide the perfect accommodation for our experience. The house has both private and shared room options for The Weekend Sabbatical (please note that private room options will merit a higher total cost for the experience). We'll also be leveraging their beautiful spaces for yoga flow, meditation, and breathing exercises with our co-leader Kayla!

Day 5

Participants arrive in San Jose Thursday morning and officially kick-off the experience at Villa Caletas, a stunning hotel in the mountains that overlooks the Pacific Ocean and is filled with luscious fauna and wildlife. The theme of Day 1 is Connectedness and the group will spend 2-3 hours at Villa Caletas getting to know the other participants of the group through a number of team building activities.  

Impact is the theme of Day 2 and participants will have the option for a morning yoga flow or mediation session before completing our impact project with Geoporters in Uvita. Depending on the weather, the group will then head down to a private beach in Uvita where the group will be led through a meditation/stretch session on the beach. The day ends back at our Airbnb with a deliciously cooked team dinner at a nearby restaurant followed by a retrospective session.

Day 3 is titled Survival day and focuses on getting participants outside of their comfort zones like never before. The day is simple - leave our Airbnb at 9 AM with only a bottle of water, sunscreen, and no other possessions (money included). Participants will break from the group and spend the day by themselves in Manuel Antonio as they explore the town and its surrounding area. Participants will have 3 goals for the day - to complete something mindful, physical, and spiritual. There will also be a few surprise tasks to complete through the day. The group will end the day at Hotel Selena for dinner, sunset, and a retrospective session.

On Day 4 the group will complete a morning yoga or meditation session before heading to Nauyaca Falls, a breathtaking double decker waterfall close to the town of Uvita. A 2.5 mile hike will bring the group to the falls, where there will be incredible photo opportunities, swimming, and waterfall jumps. Upon arrival, participants will have plenty of time to reflect on the week to date, what has been discovered, and what comes after The Weekend Sabbatical program through a series of mindfulness activities. Nature is one of the best ways to reflect on your life and what better way to drive further reflection than at this powerful earth marvel.  

The final day of The Weekend Sabbatical is called Vision Day. Day 5 is an early start and participants will spend the morning reflecting and sharing what they have discovered over the week. A tangible plan of action is made to continue to drive results around these areas of career clarity with the group facilitator. After breakfast and mindfulness activities, the group will take one final view of Dominical before heading back to San Jose for departure flights.
